Distributed Modbus IO Modules
Procon Electronics has launched a new range of
PROMUX range of Modbus I/O modules. The
PROMUX range is the next generation following the
highly successful MOD-MUX module range. It will
replace the MOD-MUX products after a reasonable
phase out period.
The new PROMUX modules offer the latest
technological innovations with new features and
improved performance for easy installation and
commissioning. PROMUX is an innovative modular
I/O system providing clients with a simple, low cost
solution to distributed I/O requirements.
Components include stand-alone Digital and
Analog Input and Output modules that are
connected on a RS485 two wire multi-drop network
as slave devices. The modules communicate
using the MODBUS RTU protocol and a 32bit ARM
CPU is used in the modules to provide high speed
data processing and fast turnaround times. Multiple
baud rates are selectable from 2400 to 115200
baud. All PROMUX modules plug directly onto an
industry standard DIN rail.
The modules have been equipped with status led’s
which are used to visually indicate the status of the
Inputs or Outputs and to assist with fault finding
and diagnostics.
Typical applications include:
• Point to Point I/O (I/O Mapping)
• I/O expansion for PLCs
• Data Acquisition
New IOStudio software
To assist with configuring the modules, Procon has
developed a PC software package, IOStudio.
IOStudio automatically configures the table of
Modbus registers according to the configuration of
the module type.
IOStudio can be downloaded from the ‘downloads’
section on our website.
